• What happens to the electronic waste produced by the United States?

Anything useful is recovered. The rest is sent to China / Asia/ Middle East/ Developing Countries, etc

• What happens to e-waste after it arrives in developing countries?

Basically, everything that seems profitable is recicled, primitively of course, since they tend to burn residues, amongst other methods, in order to recover these materials, but lots of toxic gases and others are released by this processes.

• Why does so much e-waste get shipped to Asia?

Because in most Asian countries, like China, there are some markets that buy/sell the precious metals in this e-waste, and in most cases, there's not a stablished market, so lots of these products are kept "off the books"

• What are the negative effects of dumping e-waste?

There's air pollution, contaminated water systems, etc. take your pick

• How do the toxins in e-waste return to the United States?

In toys, since most of them are made in Asia and come from the same plastics burned to retrieve valuable things out of e-waste

• What can concerned citizens do about e-waste?

They can encourage the re-use of electronic devices, or by asking companies to recicle their own e-waste
